Kairn's Practice Yard [Open]
Date: 6th of Goa | 1722 |
Time of Day: Mid-Day
Weather: Cool, breezy
Location: Fort Haernburg, the Southwest Wall
---

The breeze of the wind was something as Kairn watched something he didn't quite feel as more sensed as it moved and passed about him, his amethyst glittering eyes keeping watch on the stone in front of him as he moved to grip his hammer. At 8'5" he towered over the few Swan that came to watch, but both the rock and the hammer itself had been something of an awe. He was dressed in heavy cloth, as to not have visitors eye him strangely from the distance of inspecting the fort, but his granite grey skin was skin to strangeness, the carved muscles and armor shifting much more akin to flesh then their base material and the soft shifting rub of stones as he moved.

His hammer which Eric, having designed it, referred as nothing short of a siege hammer, was a curved and massive thing. Standing slightly shorter then him at 8'2", the thick pole the size of a stout Sidhe's arm as well as the head were made of the same granite rock as he, the head of the mace much like the base of an oak carved into the two sides of the mace. He shifted it up, now to the boulder.

In the digging of the mineshafts a large stone was found in the way, surfaced by the mining and tunneling along the sides to expand. It was a simple dull rock, standing in the path and rolling upwards above Kairn's head.

"Alright now," Eric nodded. "This will be the first test, you ready?" Kairn nodded once, raising the hammer to full height.

RE: Kairn's Practice Yard [Open]
The walk from the Baile, through Elk and Swann lands, and all the way up to fort Haernburg had been somewhat long, but largely uneventful - the warhammer strapped to his back had, perhaps, turned a few heads, but nothing untoward. The fact that he seemed, for the most part, a quiet, docile fellow, seemed enough to secure that. It had been a few years since he had run into the Ironswift - and their remarkable man of stone, and, at long last, he'd finally decided that he could take time away from his own affairs ( drag himself from the smithy ) in order to pay them a visit.

It hadn't been all that long, after all - what was two years, anyway? Not too long, at least to one whose age was beginning to draw near his second century. He'd come well into sight of the place in time to watch something fly overhead, into the distance, from inside the fort, and continued to the gate, attention on the top of the wall until he reached the gate.

Getting in was no spot of trouble, really, not for an upstanding citizen of Cels like the smith well and truly was, and it was soon enough that he was walking in, looking around, and spotting the crowd of Swann and Aesir gathered around.

Oh.

Big hammer.

He quickly joined the group, interest kindled already.

These Aesir seemed to have such interesting things.

RE: Kairn's Practice Yard [Open]
The resounding crack and the stone sent flying into the scouted area sailed over and aways for about a hundred yards, smacking solidly and crashing into a tree. The tree splintered and the top half literally crunching and hopping to the side in a noisey protest, much akin to the shouts of amazement from the others around Kairn. the stone sat before him in what looked to have been five pieces from the several strikes applied, and one stone piece was distinctly missing.

Eric looked around and inspected Kairn and his weapon, while Kairn looked onward towards the wall. "Have I done sufficient as you have asked?" He remarked in that whispering winds tone.

The smith was already grinning, examining the sight of the shattered stone from a distance, stepping a bit further forwards to get a better look, and recognizing the whispering tone. Oh! Excellent.

That was one question answered, and he was quite pleased to see the golem was present.

Best not to be a bother, quite yet, however - though his bronze hair and warhammer to match certainly didn't leave him blending into the crowd.

Kairn shifted now, taking his hammer aside that shook the ground briefly as it was set down like a totem pole hammerhead first, taking a second part of the rock. He heaved and shifted it slowly, dragging it to where he stood before bit by bit. Eric however spotted Driscoll first, cocking his head. He didn't say anything, but Adea did right behind Driscoll.

"Oh oh it's you again the person who started the forging on the table how do you do it's a pleasure perhaps we could talk some or you interesting in stones again?"

The man blinked, slowly, then turned, nodding in greeting. "I'm afraid it was my brother with the temper who tried to forge on the table. A bad habit, but one that's hard to break him from." He smiled, a little bit, the tiniest quirk of his lips. "I thought I would take up your brother's invitation to stop by. Talking seems polite."

"Oh? It's been so long I suppose and all, but a fun day there just too bad the crafting was something that couldn't be too serious with how the two chieftains are anyways nice to see you took my brother up on his offer he's a gentle soul but sometimes not pushy enough anyways hope you are enjoying the side show blasted rock got in the way so Kairn was asked to show off a bit of his ability for the garrison."

Driscoll smiled, slightly, blinked slowly as he worked to follow the woman's words and trail of thought - a little difficult, if he admitted it to himself, but worth the effort, if only to keep from causing insult. He gleaned what he could - her comment about the chieftains a little confounding, though perhaps she was referring to the rocky relationship his cousin had with the Swann Chieftain. "I didn't think it was a long time. Only two years..."

His attention turned back towards Kairn, and he nods. "Yes. I saw some of the stone fly over the wall as I was coming in. Quite impressive."

RE: Kairn's Practice Yard [Open]
Eric happened to walk over as he warned folks to cover their ears, waving at the two. "Friend of yours? Better hurry, he's about to swing again!" With that Kairn reared his siege hammer and rested the rock in a small trough made in the earth slightly behind him, looking like a very strange version of golf. His hammer struck the stock a few moments later straight on, sending the boulder up into the air and arcing over and towards the first. there was a sundering thud into the earth, and a cloud of dust kicked up from where it landed.

Adea giggled as she covered her ears then whistled as it arced up and then down. "Geez the thing makes a racket but such strength from stone is expected!"

RE: Kairn's Practice Yard [Open]
Driscoll watched the weapon arc, followed Adea's lead and raised his hands to cover his ears, watching as the boulder arced into the air. He lowered his hands as the woman spoke, glanced up, a bit perplexed. "Do none of the Swann here have a firm grasp on Earth, or is this meant to test Kairn's Capability?"

There's no denying the light of interest in his eyes as he asks, however, a keen curiosity that infuses every word.

Season of Lughnasadh in Cels | Months of Harpa to Solmanudur in Norland

Summer has come to the High Kingdom as tensions grow among the Septs. The Ua Badb rise in rebellion along with the Ua Abhean and the Ua Ecne.

In the Isles of Manann the Inish Folk sharpen their blades as war seems to be growing with the ways of Clann Sea Dragan. Word also spreads from Cymru that the Eagle are building a wall along the border as strange ghost ships are seen in the Sea of Aegos.

In Norland the Aesir are stunned as King Skaldir Skaldrsson is struck with a strange illness. Some say it is the Black Oak who committed the crime.
